What is Pain Management?

As defined on Wikipedia, Pain management (also called pain medicine; algiatry) is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with pain. Pain management treatments vary from medication management (anything from aspirin to opioids) to physical therapy, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency lesionings, acupuncture, and even behavioral therapy. Each patient should be provided with their own, individualized treatment plan as no two patients are alike. A common misconception many patients have today is that in order to treat their pain they are doomed to a life of taking pills and receiving multiple injections on a regular basis. Fortunately, these days all you need is a doctor committed to providing you with the most pain free life possible by figuring out which specific, or combination, of treatment methods work for best for you. Interventional pain specialists treat conditions including, but not limited to;

  • Low back pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Cancer pain
  • Migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Slipped or bulging discs
  • Cervical pain
  • Shingles, ect.

Don’t let chronic pain stop you from living your life to its full potential any longer. See what interventional pain specialists and an individualized pain management treatment plan can do for you!
