Agility drills are another way to prevent knee injuries. Not only do they strengthen the muscle fibers to fire more quickly, they also hone the proprioceptive sense. An easy drill is to start a slow jog and then progress to a faster pace.
When you are comfortable with your pace, start making some large figure 8 turns. When these come easily, decrease incrementally the size of the figure 8. Finish by making sharp cuts to the right and left. This drill may take a few minutes or a few weeks; progress may be slow if you have been injured.
